Early Learning Child Care Services

FUN Academy incorporates the learning and practices from The Creative Curriculum. The Creative Curriculum is based off the findings of six main theorists. The Creative Curriculum includes developmentally appropriate goals and objectives for children within four main categories of interest: social/emotional, physical, cognitive and language. Our teachers use their knowledge of child development, the knowledge of children’s individual needs, strengths and interests, and the knowledge of social and cultural context within each child to create and implement their lessons.
Our teachers do monthly observations on the children in their care and enjoy the open communication with families. Working together as a united team is our goal for the future success of the children in our care.

Infant Classrooms
There are two classrooms with capacity for 8 babies in each room. The first infant classroom is for ages 6 weeks and up to 7 months. The second infant classroom is for children ages 7 months up to 14 months. The goal is to separate the infants that are not mobile from those who are starting to become mobile/are fully mobile.

Young Toddler Classrooms
There are two classrooms with capacity for 10 children in each room. These classrooms are for children ages 14 months to 2 years old. The children in the Young Toddler classrooms engage in many learning activities as well as play. Learning through play is a critical part in children’s development. We also include structured learning activities such as circle time, arts and crafts and small group work.

Older Toddler Classrooms
There are two classrooms with the capacity for 12 children in each room. These classrooms are for children ages 2-3 years old. The Older Toddler classrooms are our primary potty training classrooms. The children in the Older Toddler classrooms follow a flexible schedule which allows for many teachable moments. They incorporate many crafts, enjoy circle time and structured learning as well as their time for free play.

Preschool Classrooms
There are two classrooms for Preschool. One with the capacity for 10 children and the other with capacity for 20 children. The Preschool classrooms care for children ages 3-4 years old. The Preschool I classroom is ideally for children who would miss the deadline for kindergarten and follow a typical progression from Preschool to Pre-K within our facility. The Preschool II classroom is ideally for the children who would follow the typical progression. Each classroom is equipped with teachers who are guiding an early love of learning. The Preschool classrooms encourage times of free play as well as structured learning times. The children in the Preschool classrooms are getting prepared for Pre-K and the expectations that will be required once entering school.

Pre-K Classroom
There is one classroom for Pre-K with the capacity for 20 children. The Pre-K classroom is our most structured classroom which still allows for free play, many teachable moments, and kindergarten readiness. The teachers engage the children in many problem solving activities, large and small group activities to allow for kindergarten readiness and enjoy different partnerships with outside programs such as 4-H and the

Healthy Bodies Project.
Please note: Children are evaluated in their transfer and/or placement of rooms not only by their chronological age, but by their developmental status.
